What's UP @ CMT, June 2014

Trazer novas ideias para a criação artística e para a forma de envolvermos a comunidade tem sido uma das características do nosso trabalho. Algumas vezes recorrendo a fontes de inspiração vindas do domínio científico, outras vezes vindas das coisas simples, da observação do que faz falta na vida de todos os dias. A criatividade é uma forma de estar. A criatividade é uma dádiva que se recebe para passar a outros.

Bringing new ideias to artistic creation and to the way we involve the artistic community has been one of the characteristics of our work. Sometimes we draw on inspiration coming from scientific research, other times we use more simple methods, observing those things that are missing in our day-to-day-lives. Creativity is a way of life. Creativity is a a gift that you receive so as to pass on to others.

No pico do Verão temos dois grandes acontecimentos: a instalação-workshop-performance Pianoscópio vai poder ser visitada por centenas de crianças e adultos na Fábrica da Ciência em Aveiro. Brincar com esqueletos de pianos, conhecer as entranhas do som, percorrer os caminhos da vibração. Tocar, tactear, tocar.
É o Ano Frutificar do projecto Opus Tutti, apoiado pela Fundação Gulbenkian. Irmãos mais velhos de meninos do Roseiral terão direito a uma semana de trabalho artístico para fazerem parte do elenco que aí apresentará Opus 7.
E Babelim, outra das boas práticas criadas no âmbito do projecto Opus Tutti, com a particularidade de envolver a interacção de crianças mais velhas com os mais pequeninos, culmina a ponte estabelecida com o São Luiz Teatro Municipal. É mais uma travessia entre educação e cultura, a fazer chegar mais longe o impacto da arte para a infância.

At the peak of summer we have two great events. The performance-workshop-exhibit Pianoscópio will be on display in the Fábrica de Ciência in Aveiro. This will allow hundreds of children and adults to play with the skeletons of pianos, get to know the internal sounds, and follow the paths of the vibrations. Touching, feeling, touching…
Opus Tutti is Bearing Fruit this year, supported by the Gulbenkian Foundation. The older siblings of the Roseiral children will benefit from one week of artistic activities so they can be part of the cast presenting Opus 7.
And Babelim – another of the good ideas that has come out of Opus Tutti, with its special focus on getting older children to interact with the younger ones – will culminate the work on the bridge built with São Luiz Teatro Municipal. It is one more path running between education and culture, helping extend the impact of art for childhood.

No CCB, Opus 1 e a acção de formação “Variações sobre o Peça a Peça” trouxeram a alegria da reverberação do nosso trabalho junto de famílias e profissionais, respectivamente. Ouvimo-la também no workshop Afinação do Ouvir no São Luiz Teatro Municipal.
Opus 7 chegou longe, tendo também deixado esperança no Hospital de Santa Maria. E, através de Pontes de PaPI (Peça a Peça Itinerante) e à colaboração com instituições como a Casa das Artes de Vila Nova de Famalicão e o São Luiz Teatro Municipal, chegámos a mais creches e jardins de infância.
São viagens entre cultura e educação, a aprofundar laços.

We are sharing ideas: in Porto with BebéBabá, one of our flagship projects; in Aix-en-Provence with RESEO. In the CCB, Opus 1 and the training session “Variations on Play-to-Play” showed the happiness that our work has generated, respectively reverberating in the families and professionals in the area. We also heard it in the workshop Afinação do Ouvir in São Luiz Teatro Municipal.
Opus 7 has come a long way, having also left hope behind in the Santa Maria Hospital. And, via PaPI Bridges (Itinerant Play to Play) and collaboration with institutions such as the Arts Centre of Vila Nova de Famalicão and São Luiz Teatro Municipal, we have reached out to more crèches and kindergartens. They are voyages between culture and education, strengthening the bonds.

Opus Tutti é um projecto que nos permite fazermos as maiores parvoíces e sermos livres de nos expressar. (...) Dançámos muito. Conheci pessoas novas. O espectáculo Babelim será mágico e magnífico porque já sabemos mais e já nos conhecemos. Este ano não temos as mesmas músicas, pois inventámos algumas músicas novas. A ideia é dançarmos ainda mais com os bebés. São várias as crianças que actuam comigo. Eu penso que trabalhamos bem em conjunto, embora alguns se conheçam melhor do que outros. Queremos fazer uma estreia muito boa deste espectáculo no Teatro São Luiz; existe uma forte preocupação com a participação do público, em especial dos bebés.
Estou a gostar muito de participar neste desafio e acredito que as pessoas irão gostar de nos ver!

Opus Tutti is a project in which we can do the most silly things and freely express ourselves.(…) We danced a lot. I met new people. The Babelim show is going to be magical and magnificent and because now we know more and we have got to know each other. This year we don’t have the same music pieces – we have invented some new music for the show. The idea is that we get to dance even more with the babies.There are a number of children performing with me. I think we work well together, although some of us know each other better than others. We want to make a really good debut of this show in the São Luiz Theatre; there is a lot of emphasis on the participation of the public, especially the babies.

Partilhamos o documentário do Ano Crescer do Projecto Opus Tutti. Aqui. Um bom começo para que Jardim Interior possa florescer em várias cidades portuguesas, em vários países ! Porque, guiados pela inspiração de António Lobo Antunes acreditamos que “o objectivo da educação é dotar as pessoas com instrumentos de construção de felicidade para a vida”.

We are sharing the documentary from the Growing Year of the Opus Tutti Project. Here. The Indoor Garden is off to a good start, where it will be flowering in a number of Portuguese cities, and other countries! Here we are guided by the inspiration of António Lobo Antunes and the belief that “the objective of education is to endow people with the tools for building happiness in life”.

Acreditamos na construção de comunidades cuidadoras a partir da infância; acreditamos que se aprende a cuidar sendo bem cuidado. Por isso, temos vindo a desenvolver ideias que ajudam a promover a interacção entre crianças pequeninas e crianças mais velhas. Para que possam brincar, envolvidas em música e movimento; para que possam crescer em todas as dimensões do seu ser. Estamos a formar artistas e profissionais da educação capazes de implementar este conceito.

Opus Tutti International Artistic Residence.
We believe that caring communities are built right from early childhood; we believe that you learn to care by being well cared for. As such, we have been developing ideas that help to encourage interaction between small children and older children. So that they can play, surrounded by music and movement, so that they can grow all aspects of their self. We are training artists and professionals in the area of education that are capable of implementing this concept.
