Boas notícias! 1) a Fundação Gulbenkian vai apoiar um projecto de 4 anos: GermInArte, TransFormação  Artística para o Desenvolvimento Social e Humano a partir da Infância; 2) o projecto ZYG foi aprovado pelo Pegada Cultural | Primeiros Passos, uma iniciativa conjunta da Direcção Geral das Artes e do Conselho das Artes da Noruega, co-financiada pelas EEA Grants. ZYG é um projecto com a duração de um ano que envolve a Companhia de Música Teatral, a Fábrica das Artes (Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém) e a companhia de dança contemporânea norueguesa Dybwikdans. We are very happy to announce the results of two important applications: 1) the Gulbenkian Foundation has granted us the financial support for GermInArte, a 4 year project aiming at artistic transformation of agents for social and human development since early childhood; 2) the project ZYG was approved by the program Cultural Footprint: Arts and Education, a joint initiate between the Portuguese and Norwegian Arts Council (DGArtes) co-financed by the EEA Grants. ZYG is a one year project involving Companhia de Música Teatral, Fábrica das Artes (Fundação Centro Cultural de Belém) and the norwegian contemporary dance company Dybwikdans. May is not only the month of birds singing. The clear sounds of the Porcelain and Crystal Gamelan will reverberate in the green grounds and blue skies of Parque das Devesas, Famalicão, the many voices of the piano will be revealed in Anatomia do Piano at Casa da Música, Porto, the human musical instinct will be the theme for the performative lecture Born to Sing to be held at RESEO´s Conference in Lisbon and Babelim at Casa das Artes Famalicão will remind us that human communication is universal and made of sounds, images and movement. Abril foi estimulante. Discutimos as nossas ideias acerca da importância dos programas artísticos para os mais pequeninos no IEFG Meeting, que decorreu na Fundação Gulbenkian em Lisboa. A nossa “Viagem” a Aarhus foi inspiradora: as apresentações de AliBaBach, os workshops e a conferência foram recebidas com calor, interesse e entusiasmo. Faz-nos acreditar que a Música tem de facto o poder de mover o mundo. Estamos muito entusiasmados com a nova visita à Dinamarca ainda neste ano.

April was stimulating. We discussed our ideas about the importance of artistic programmes for very young children at the IEFG Meeting, held at the Gulbenkian Foundation in Lisbon. Our “Journey” to Aarhus was inspirational: the performances of AliBaBach, the workshops and the conference were received with warmth, interest and enthusiasm. It really makes us believe that music has the power to move the world. We are looking forward to return to Danmark later in the year.

No meu trabalho artístico nutro admiração pelos meus bailarinos. Reconheço as escolhas intuitivas que fazem, é delas que a arte se faz. O seu conhecimento baseia-se em arquivos de momentos e movimentos. A decisão não-falada é importante e eu confio nela no processo que construir uma criação. Quando observo os meus bailarinos em diálogo com os mais pequenos apaixono-me, vez após vez; nunca me canso de ver a interação. Não preciso de compreender o que está a acontecer, confio nos meus bailarinos, as suas escolhas no processo criativo e na performance fazem a diferença. É um tipo de conhecimento que apenas pode ser adquirido pela experiência, o arquivo do intérprete é único. In my artistic work I admire my dancers, I recognise the intuitive choices that they take, these make the art. The knowledge of the practitioner is based on an archive of movements and moments. The unspoken decision is important, I trust it in the process of making a creation. When I observe my dancers in dialogue with the very young audiences, I fall in love, over and over again; I never get tired of watching the interaction. I don't need to understand what is happening, I trust my dancers, their choices in the creative process and performance situations make a difference. It is a sort of knowledge that only can be acquired by experience, the archive of the performer is unique. Muito brevemente abrirão as inscrições para Jardim Interior, a “formação imersiva” que decorrerá na Fundação Gulbenkian no início de Julho. Dirigida a educadores e músicos com interesse pela criação artística para a infância. Esteja atento. Registration for the “immersive training” Jardim Interior that will take place at the Gulbenkian Foundation in the beginning of July will open shortly. This might interest educators and musicians involved in artistic creation for infancy. Watch out.
