On 25 and 26 September, the Casa das Artes in Vila Nova de Famalicão hosted the premiere of *M de Manifesto*, with two performances aimed at schools and another aimed at the general public. On 3 October, the show travelled to the Teatro Narciso Ferreira in Riba de Ave.
In the days leading up to the premiere, the outreach initiative Bastidores de M de Manifesto (Behind the Scenes of M de Manifesto) took the artists into the classrooms of ACE Famalicão, the Camilo Castelo Branco School Group and Colégio Machado Ruivo.
Eight classes took part in this conversation-performance, during which questions about the female experience were raised. Through song, spoken word and movement, discussions were sparked about what it means to be a woman. During these outreach sessions, the students’ voices were recorded and subsequently incorporated into the performances.
On the 25th, following the performances for the schools, there was an opportunity for a discussion between the artists and the students. Listening to their reactions highlighted the impact and importance of creating spaces for questioning and sharing perspectives.
Between the classroom and the stage, CMT’s new artistic-educational constellation is built on all these voices: futurists, progressives and even those who dream of times gone by. Uncle, cousin, father, sister – united for tomorrow.
