In August and September, we continued to take music to different places. In early August, we presented the final outcome of i.lab #2026 at Solar da Música Nova in Loulé. In late August, PaPI – Opus 8 travelled to Sandefjord, Norway, to take part in the Markedet Festival and to bring the sound of birds to local nurseries. Come September, it was time for PaPI – Opus 8 to travel to the Paredes de Coura Cultural Centre. PaPI – Opus 7 took part in the Avenidas Bebé Fest, a festival entirely dedicated to art for early childhood, in Lisbon. September also saw us visit Parque da Devesa in Famalicão to listen to nature, with Murmúrio das Árvores. In Brazil, in Minas Gerais, we took part in the 17th MOCILyC Latin American and Caribbean Children’s Song Festival. We were on RTP2’s Sociedade Civil programme to talk about music and human development. In Famalicão, we experienced the residency, the behind-the-scenes preparations and the premiere of M de Manifesto, our new production dedicated to women. It was also in September that we learnt of Dooo Ba Wooo’s nomination in the Best Small Ensemble category at the YAMawards.

Ode to the voice of women

Radar image

“The voice of M de Manifesto is not just that of the four performers. It is also the voice of the women who have inspired us. Not only prominent figures from the history of the feminist struggle, but also women of today who are close to us and who are part of our lives.”

Inês Rodrigues da Silva, artistic director

Highlight image

Dooo Ba Wooo is a performance of memories. Memories of snails, tortoises, sunflowers, whales, birds and many other songs that have been part of the Companhia de Música Teatral’s journey over the last 25 years. A treasure chest that opens up to a journey shared by babies and adults alike, made up of songs, rhythmic chants, short stories, movements and sounds, guided by improvisation and play. The Young Audiences Music Awards (YAM Awards) are international awards organised by Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), which aim to identify, support and reward creativity and innovation in the field of musical productions for children. In addition to its nomination in the Best Small Ensemble category, Dooo Ba Wooo is also in the running for the Public Choice Award.
