The show Dooo Ba Wooo has been nominated in the Best Small Ensemble category at the Young Audiences Music Awards 2026 (YAMawards).
The YAMawards are international awards organised by Jeunesses Musicales International (JMI), which honour musical productions for children and young people, recognising projects that explore new ways of creating, communicating and imagining through music. Among this year’s nominees are also names spanning different regions and approaches to music-making: the Philharmonie Luxembourg, the Glyndebourne Opera Company, in collaboration with Saffron Hall in the United Kingdom, and the Belgian company Musica & Zefiro Torna, which, like the Companhia de Música Teatral, has been seeking new ways to bring together music, creativity and younger audiences.
Dooo Ba Wooo is a show about memories. Memories of snails, tortoises, sunflowers, whales, birds and many other pieces of music that have been part of the Companhia de Música Teatral’s journey over the last 25 years. A treasure chest that opens up to a journey shared by babies and adults alike, made up of songs, rhythmic chants, little stories, movements and sounds, guided by improvisation and play. A journey where memories are transformed and where, perhaps, one discovers that music is an infinite universe.
Dooo Ba Wooo’s nomination for the YAMawards represents international recognition of the work carried out by the Companhia de Música Teatral and its ongoing quest to explore new forms of artistic creation for children.
In addition to its nomination in the Best Small Ensemble category, Dooo Ba Wooo is also in the running for the Public Choice Award; voting takes place via the website.
