At the Festival do Livro de Serpa, in May, the Cartografia Sonora Imaginária (CSI) led us to a conference-performance format, inspired by what we had done at the XV EIAIDSH at the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation. Rabiscos e Esquizogramas is the “hidden title” we give to that place in the constellation, “a sort of cartography of the ‘Cartography (…), a representation of the sensory territory in a more frugal format, but with an additional dimension: the revelation of some aspects of the creative process, of the vision that its cartographers have now that they already know the territory they themselves created. The cartographers continue to wander through the ‘Cartography’, sketching places that are seen and heard in the show, but they simplify some aspects of that ritual and make themselves available to the audience to reveal aspects that only they know. There are some scheduled stops, but what happens during them depends mostly on what the audience wants to know about those places.”
As always, the Dicionário de Lugares Imaginários was part of the places we visited: it is “a light, an inspiration” and it was a great pleasure to have Alberto Manguel with us. Later in September, at the III Jornadas da Educação, in Chaves, there were resonances of CSI. It was very beautiful to be able to share with the municipality’s teachers some ideas that we hope can contribute to a new school year full of challenges. The theme “Educating to think: science, creativity, and critical thinking” took us to several places, all of them inhabited by the people who listened to us closely and with great affection. Thinking is also feeling, playing, listening, observing, collaborating, searching, caring, creating, acting.
