On September 9 and 10, 2025, after sunset, the Terrace of the Portugal Pavilion at Expo 2025 in Osaka, Japan, resonated with ideas, sounds, and images from the Deep Listening Deep Sea(ing) (DLDS) project in a documentary-performance that intertwined elements from the DLDS and Cartografia Sonora Imaginária constellations. Throughout the day, outside the Pavilion, a series of music-theatre performative moments offered an additional way of “giving voice” to the Deep Ocean. The Pavilion’s theme, “Ocean, Blue Dialogue”, placed Portugal in a prominent position at the World Expo as a nation deeply connected to the sea. In Osaka, Deep Listening Deep Sea(ing) “gave voice” to the Deep Ocean — a theme of pressing environmental relevance — and resonated with the “multiple voices” of children, teenagers, young people, teachers, artists, and scientists who had been involved in the various previous missions.
